Join the fun as Kugeplex plays wild, soulful dance music, featuring lessons by Yiddish dance maven Bruce Bierman. The West Coast's rockin'-est purveyor of klezmer and old-world party music, Kugelplex is Jason Ditzian (clarinet), Rob Reich (accordion), David Rosenfeld (mandolin, violin, badchan), Marguerite Ostro (violin/vocals), Eugene Warren (bass), Michael Pinkham (percussion) and Jewlia Eisenberg (vocals). John Zorn Presents the Aleph-Bet Project: The CJM invited John Zorn to curate this series of sound pieces in the special events gallery. Jewlia is one of the composeres commissioned by Zorn to create sound piece exploring a letter from the Hebrew alphabet. Aleph-Bet features new work by leading musicians and composers such as Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Erik Friedlander, David Greenberger, Z’EV, Terence Riley, Alvin Curran, Christina Kubisch, Marina Rosenfeld, Rez Mesinai, and Jewlia. The installation will be accompanied by a live performance date tba.

The Contemporary Jewish Museum of San Francisco has an amazing space (designed by Daniel Libeskind, no less) dedicated to sound work. The inaugural sound pieces have been curated by John Zorn and feature luminaries such as Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed and your local Hostess Jewlia Eisenberg. Charming Hostess will be performing HEAVENSHOW, an electroacoustic site-specific piece based on the Hebrew letter Hei.
