Hellooooooooo Friends of Hostess!
Summer blooms, and we have a neat show next week with Jeremiah Lockwood. Best known for his work with Balkan Beat Box and for fronting his rockin band Sway Machinery, Jeremiah's work draws on Jewish and African diaspora forms in thoughtful, groovy ways. He's also the grandson of golden age cantor Jacob Konigsberg. This is a rare chance to hear Jeremiah in an intimate venue. We are psyched!
Speaking of cantors, Jewlia is the cantor-in-residence for Aquarian Minyan for the High Holy Days. These services are open to all, give-as-you-can, and are good for people interested in the ritual side of radical Jewish culture.
ChoHo roundup--if you missed these shows, here's some video! Good times playing a gamelan version of Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" for UnderCover. If you're fans of classic kung fu, like us, you might like this sonic kung fu project we are doing with artist Mike Lai, re-imagining the soundtrack for Bruce Lee's "Fist of Fury." This was at Southern Exposure, we'll also be doing it at the ZeroOne Festival in September.
Do you want to host a harvest concert with Charming Hostess sometime within September 30-October7? If so, contact us.
